Boards and Commissions

Citizen participation is a vital aspect of good government.  If you have the time, commitment, and willingness to actively participate toward making a difference in Wayne County, we invite you to express an interest in a board/commission appointment.  Working in partnership with the Wayne County Fiscal Court, appointed staff, and your fellow citizens, we can build the kind of community that will benefit Wayne County for generations to come.

Below is a list of the boards/commissions addressing public policy issues in Wayne County along with a brief description. 

Monticello/Wayne County
9-1-1 Board

A seven (7) member board. Four (4) members are appointed due to thier psoitions of responsibilities (Chief of Police, Sheriff, Monticello Fire Dept. Chief, and Director of EMS) The fifth member is appointed by the Judge/Executive, the sixth is appointed by the Mayor and the seventh member is appointed jointly by agreement tothe the Judge/Executive and the Mayor.  Appointed members serve a four (4) year term.

Four (4) members are appointed by the Judge/Executive with the approval of the Fiscal Court, one (1) of which is a Fiscal Court member.  Four (4) member appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council, one (1) of which is a City Councilmember.  Each serving a four (4) year term.

Wayne County Tax Appeals Board

Appointments to the Wayne County Tax Appeals Board are governed by KRS 133.020. 

This is three person board.  One to be appointed by the county judge/executive, one to be appointed by the fiscal court, and one to be appointed by the mayor of the city.  Each person is appointed to serve for a three year term.  A board member who has served for a full term shall not be eligible for reappointment.  However, they shall be eligible for appointment after a hiatus of three years.
